Snowtrip to Jindabyne and Thredbo.
Ok so the snowtrip turned out to be a huge success for us all. The flight down was ontime and perfect flying was had by all.
On arrival at Canberra,0degrees,buses and hirecars were sorted and off we went. Actually the hirecar lady must have felt sorry for Wayne as at one stage he was left with all the baggage,5large suitcases, 5 carry on bags, 1 laptop bag,ski boots bags, blankies and pillows. All on his own in front of the carhire counter. She upgraded our car from a lancer to a brand new commodore. Very nice.
Once checked into the B & B home for us for the week, it was off to find the realestate and find the girls new staff accomodation. As it turned out because we parents were there and the girls were early, they got to choose out of half a doz units. They chose a 2 bedroom unit, overlooking the lake. Only four girls to share in total. Great.
Then it was the 2 days of skiing for Kelsie to learn to ski before she was thrown into instructor training. Yes she is going to be teaching 3 to 6 year olds to ski so she needed to be able to ski first. As a snowboarder it came very easy to her and she mastered it in the first day. Kool.Thredboland and the supervisors were fantastic and so helpful.
Amongst other activities, suitcases were unpacked, beds were made, food shopping was done, snowballs thrown, the town was surveyed so they knew where everything was including the nite life, flatmates with cars were met and their first nites were brilliant.
All in all a fabulous adventure. The hardest part was driving away knowing she will be living so far from home, and in the cold. But I know she will be just fine. She is going to have so much fun and excitement.
Until later

Home!
So here we are home again. It was lovely to come home and see Kyal had the house and yard almost as we had left it. His big TV and Kelsies Wii had found their way out to the loungroom. One or two extra blankets and doonas were scattered around the house. There was one less dead tree in the forest we back onto. (used for firewood) Lounges and chairs were found around the remains of a large camp fire. Looks like it was a fun couple of days for him and his mates too.
So we have been home 4 days and we have had a couple of days to come to terms with the fact that the snow is a wonderful place for Kelsie to hang out for the next few months. She is going to have a fantastic time. We keep in touch daily and sometimes more than once, when she needs something. I have started getting a little package together for her. Life for an 18 year old is really kool. I remember when we were 18 maybe thats the problem, no not at all, it will be a great life experience for her.Something she will always remember.
bye for now

The kids are out together
Kyal has been waiting for Kelsie to turn 18 for so long, so they could hang out clubbin together. They are certainly made of the same mould. Bits of me, bits of Wayne and bits they threw in themselves so as to be unique. They are both excited to be out and about together. Yes they are having an awesome time and enjoying a fun and safe experience together. They want to hang out together as much as possible before Kelsie leaves for freezing thredbo in 10 days.
Catch ya later

Growing up

Hello there,
well things are looking up here on the Sunny Coast it really has been sunny for 2 days...Wahoo...The beach, ocean and national park looks so much more magical with the suns rays.
Anyway, I was thinking, its funny how your kids grow up so fast. One minute they are babies, then they go to school then their off to work... Whats next? Ah they leave home. As if we hadn't provided them with all the love, support, guidance, food and shelter they required, they feel they need to move out. I know I did it too. But you know its now our kids that are doing it. It feels a tad different! Iknow how MY parents felt now....
We wonder are they ready, well when is ready? We wonder will they be OK? Of course they will we have loved, praised, supported, guided and loved them, did I say loved them, so far and now its up to them to make the right choices and become the successful young adults we moulded them to be. Note I did not write perfect. No one is perfect hey!!
They will be fine and if they feel the need, then of course they are most welcome at home once again. One has already spread his wings and returned to his nest. Only for awhile until he gets on his feet, then he too will be off again. We will make the most of every moment they are around.
Loving the experiences of the family spirit
